Jack Unzicker is a highly sought-after artist and educator. He performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and in chamber and symphony orchestras. Based in Arlington, Texas, Unzicker performs with the Dallas Symphony, Dallas Chamber Symphony, Dallas Opera, and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Recent performances include guest artist performances in Costa Rica, New York, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Unzicker has performed as Principal Double Bassist of the AIMS Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria, Orquesta Divertimento in Costa Rica, Santa Fe Pro Musica, and Caminos Del Inka.

In collaboration with violinist Martha Walvoord and contemporary composers, Unzicker recently commissioned, premiered, and recorded five new works for violin and double bass. The featured work on this recording is an epic, thirty-minute, seven-movement piece by six-time GRAMMY Award-winning composer Michael Daugherty. This work is based on the satirical novella by Mark Twain, The Diaries of Adam and Eve.

As an educator, Unzicker serves as Associate Professor of Double Bass at the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been featured in articles on playing and teaching the double bass in The Strad, American String Teacher, and Strings Magazine. Unzicker performs and teaches as Artist Faculty and as the Assistant Director of the North Texas Double Bass Master Classes. He serves on the board of the Bradetich Foundation, a double bass performance and education organization, and has served as the Bass Forum Editor for the journal American String Teacher. Unzicker frequently performs, presents, and adjudicates at the International Society of Bassists, American String Teachers Association, and Texas Music Educators Association Conventions.

Unzicker grew up in Juneau, Alaska and received his Bachelor of Music from Western Washington University, where he studied performance and jazz studies. Unzicker received his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music from the University of North Texas, where he studied performance, orchestral conducting, and jazz studies. Unzicker performs on instruments by modern American makers Daniel Hachez and Albert Jakstadt and a bow by Reid Hudson.
